Visite et témoignage de Sara, de Jordan Valley Activists (“activistes de la Vallée du Jourdain”), auprès du groupe FoST France-Europe

Alors que tous les regards sont tournés vers Gaza, les communautés palestiniennes installées dans la vallée du Jourdain, en Cisjordanie, sont fréquemment et violemment agressées par les colons des implantations juives, eux-mêmes soutenus par la police et le système judiciaire. Environ 2000 activistes israéliens s’emploient à protéger les bergers et les agriculteurs palestiniens, entre autres au nord de la vallée du Jourdain. Parmi eux, Sara, militante israélienne du mouvement Jordan Valley Activists, est venue témoigner de l’action solidaire menée dans les villages de Farsia et Ein el Hilweh, en soutien aux habitants et aux bergers. Par les plans, photos et vidéos qu’elle nous a exposés, nous avons pu mieux comprendre les initiatives prises pour tenter d’empêcher la destruction des tentes, des troupeaux, des ressources en eau, sans cesse menacés par les colons israéliens. De même, les militants tentent de maintenir les limites des terrains des agriculteurs palestiniens, lesquels sont régulièrement rongés par la construction d’autres implantations, avant-postes des colonies israéliennes. 

Le mouvement a besoin de tous les volontaires qui voudraient se joindre, de soutien financier  mais aussi de solidarité internationale. Avec le mouvement Jordan Valley Activists, plus d’une cinquantaine d’autres organisations pacifistes israéliennes se mêlent presque quotidiennement  à la vie des bergers palestiniens, défiant ainsi les colons et l’armée israélienne.

Suite au témoignage de Sara, Amos, activiste de Standing Together Jerusalem, présent à la réunion, a souligné le caractère doublement essentiel de ces actions :

“Le groupe de Jordan Valley Activists, dont fait partie Sara, ainsi que d’autres groupes opérant dans le reste de la Cisjordanie, notamment dans le sud des collines d’Hébron, accomplissent une tâche sacrée ! Les membres de ces groupes sont des citoyens israéliens ordinaires qui opèrent, au sens propre comme au sens figuré, face à l’occupation, à la prise de pouvoir, à la violence et au mal commis, sous l’égide du gouvernement israélien, dans les territoires de Cisjordanie, inclus dans la vallée du Jourdain. Les membres du groupe travaillent courageusement et sans relâche pour soutenir et aider la population de bergers palestiniens qui y vit et subit le harcèlement incessant des colons juifs israéliens, tout en faisant preuve de fraternité et de solidarité avec les bergers locaux. Ce faisant, ces groupes d’activistes posent un symbole de justice, de moralité et d’humanité – des valeurs que l’État d’Israël est en train de perdre sous l’effet de l’occupation et du régime d’apartheid persistants en Judée-Samarie.”

While all eyes are on Gaza, Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley, in the West Bank, are frequently and violently attacked by settlers from Jewish settlements, themselves supported by the police and the judicial system. Around 2,000 Israeli activists are working to protect Palestinian shepherds and farmers, among others in the northern Jordan Valley. One of them, Sara, an Israeli activist from the Jordan Valley Activists movement, came to testify about the solidarity action carried out in the villages of Farsia and Ein el Hilweh, in support of residents and shepherds. Through the plans, photos, and videos she shared with us, we were able to better understand their initiatives to prevent the destruction of tents, herds, and water resources, which are constantly threatened by Israeli settlers. Similarly, activists are trying to protect the access of Palestinian farmers to their fields, regularly encroached upon by the construction of Israeli settlements and outposts. 

The movement needs all volunteers who could join, financial support as well as international solidarity. Along with the Jordan Valley Activists movement, more than fifty other Israeli peace organizations are involved daily in the lives of the shepherds, challenging the settlers and the Israeli army.

Following Sara’s testimony, Amos, an activist from Standing Together – Jerusalem, who was present at the meeting, stressed the doubly essential nature of these actions:

“The Group of Jordan Valley Activists, of which Sarah is one, as well as other groups operating in other regions of the West Bank, including the southern Hebron Hills, are doing a holy service! The members of these groups are ordinary Israeli citizens, and they operate, literally and figuratively, at the very front and reality of the occupation, takeover, violence and evil of, and under the auspices of, the Israeli government, in the West Bank territories, including in the Jordan Valley. The members of the group work courageously and tirelessly, supporting and helping the Palestinian shepherd population that lives there and suffers from the incessant harassment of Jewish-Israeli settlers, while showing brotherhood and solidarity with the local shepherds. In doing so, these activist groups are setting a shining beacon of justice, morality, and humanity – values ​​that the State of Israel is losing under the reality of continued occupation and apartheid rule in the West Bank.”
